My Top Dozen Vintage Ports (affordable vintages)

For those of you that saw my 2009 Vintage Port Review that came out last night, I hope you enjoyed the read. [cheers.gif]

This article is not as current but has some of my favorite Ports from the last half of the 20th century into the last decade. One fantastic Vintage Port from each of the great years. Feedback appreciated, although I realize there will plenty that disagree with my choices. Nonetheless, it might make for an interesting discussion or bring up other Port topics which is fine too:

I’ve fortunately got most of these, many at your recommendation Roy!

I will easily say that the 97 Quinto do Noval is an awesome port, and one fo the best I have ever had. Certainly, it is my favorite of the 97 vintage, and the 97 LBV was great, too. Never did see it at retail, sadly.

Hi Roy - question; the 2000 Niepoort Vintage Port - is that a different beast to the Quinta do Passadouro?
Best!

Thanks for the link to a very interesting article! I haven’t tried (yet!) many of these, but I do remember being very pleasantly surprised by a '91 Croft a couple years ago. I’ve been drinking mainly cheaper stuff recently, like Warre’s LBV (pretty good with a lot of air time). An '85 Graham was good but not exceptional - but it was an auction purchase of unknown provenance. I’ve got a '77 Taylor on the to-try list!

A very Happy New Year to you!

I have some bottles for sale on Commerce Corner.

Bill,

The Niepoort 2000 is about as good as ANY 2000 Vintage Port. I put it and the Fonseca in my top 2.

1 bottle of 91 Croft available at an LCBO near me. Guess I’m grabbing that one!
