My Master List of Top Willamette Valley Wineries

Also there in July-2 nights in Dundee as part of the trip. 1st visit to Oregon.

Thank you @J_onasC_rowder! Humbled to be mentioned among this set. Hope to see you soon to pop some tops together.

couldn’t agree more—tasting with Marcus and Megan is a rare gift in the world of fine wine. Luckily, my wife and I get to spend a few hours with them each year (often just us) and the time couldn’t be better spent!

Just returned from a long weekend trip to McMinnville, where we go yearly. I tried a few new wineries based off this thread and thought I’d report back for general interest.

  1. Celestial Hill - Super impressive. You can do a session at the tasting room downtown or at the winery with Chris, the owner. We did the latter and loved it. Small, intimate tastings are always the best in my opinion, but often the small scale means just okay wine. Totally not true in this case as we found the wines to be as great as the experience. Very impressed.
  2. Abbott Claim - This is an expensive tasting experience in a clearly high-end facility backed by lots of money. Unlike a place like Domaine Serene for example, this seems to be clearly marketed towards upscale wine nerds rather than upscale wine novice tourists. The somm-ish guys that guide the tasting were extremely knowledgeable and fun. The wine was excellent. It reminds me a bit of some of the higher end offerings at Lingua Franca. Spending $150/bottle to chase a platonic idea of Oregon pinot is not my normal bag, but I like it from time to time I guess.
  3. Trisaetum - This had been on my list for some time as we really enjoy rieslings and we have been told by many that they have some good ones. Overall we were underwhelmed. The rieslings, and all the whites really were just kind of ā€œmehā€ for our tastes. On the plus side, the tasting room staff were very nice and it’s a pretty location.
  4. Brick House - This was everything I love about Oregon wine tasting. Rustic space with knowledgable and fun staff. And the wine was really a standout. Both whites and reds, wow. We will definitely return here.
    Hope that’s helpful to somebody!
