The 2001 Pride reg Cab is suppose to be one of the best reg Cabs they have ever produced…I bought 2 on release…opened the first in 2006, and it was corked! To Pride’s credit, they sent me a replacement, a 2003. Well…I opened the last one tonight…and as soon as I smelled the cork, I knew! Too bad…would have loved to see if this was better than the '97, which I consider the best reg Cab ever from Pride.
I haven’t had tca problems with any of the Reserves, going back to 1996, but have had another problem with their '99 regs. I only have one bottle left(97) and many Reserves…I think I’ll just stick to the Reserves?
Yes they do, but I preferred some of the 01s to their 02 counterpart - Shafer Hillside, Lewis Cuvee L + Reserves, Spottswoode, Etude, Rudd Estate Red, Peter Michael …
BIG thanks to Steve Pride, and Tim Bouchet…a replacement bottle is already on the way…and a 2001 to boot! I did send an email to inform them of my bad bottle…but I guess Steve had already seen this post, and had them ship out a replacement. Customer service like this really goes a long long way, and is always going to be remembered.
I have two left out of six purchased directly from the winery in person. Cannot remember any of the first four being corked or in any way disappointing.
Wow, very interesting difference of opinion, as I have the complete opposite position as you.
I prefer SHH, Cuv L, Peter Michael (and many others) 2002 over the 2001. My own personal opinion is that the 02 vintage is a better vintage then 01 . At least for my personal taste in wine.
