I’d have some choice words for Eric if that happened to me. His house, his rules, I suppose, but that sounds very consumer unfriendly.
I blame the CT nazis who take it upon themselves to over-police the site.
I also should have noted, Andrew did apologize at the time, and hopefully it was one of those learning opportunities- let’s spend a few minutes and take a quick look before we take an action that cannot be undone.
I think Eric and his team do a great job and have a wonderful product. I don’t know what I’d do without CT.

They and a couple of acquaintances who taste the same wines also tend to review it every time they taste it - so I’ve learned that if an obscure Rhone wines has a dozen different “96” scores, I temper my enthusiasm until I see if it’s the same crew as usual. This isn’t exactly a complaint - they can do what they want - but it’s just a different level of mental editing I have to do when checking CT for my purposes, which seems to be slightly different than theirs. I’ve had a guy complain when I note that a wine was heat-damaged, as he says that’s not useful information for him, so everyone has their own thing they get out of it.
Might not be useful if just that lone bottle, but it could be very useful if two or three tasters notes the same thing. You can’t know what might he useful when writing a note (I never look at the existing notes, because I don’t want to be biased or influenced by what I might read). The silly stuff like “tasted with the Larsons” is kind of a waste, but as Neal says, it’s no big deal and easy enough to ignore.
Would be handy to be able to toggle ignored user scores on/off for score statistics (mean, median, spread).
Or have an option to include only those you’re a fan of when calculating the score statistics.
You’d seriously ignore someone for that? I’m an engineer, bad spelling/writing is a requirement in my profession.

What can I say? I have my own issues, ha ha. I ignore people for all sorts of silly reasons…why not? It’s a two-way street for sure. I’m sure I’ve written plenty of notes that have had me put on someone’s “ignore” list (my wife has been trying for years).
The palate/palette thing, for some reason I cannot explain, just bugs the hell out of me and I can’t get over it. The unnecessary apostrophe is another one, but I usually don’t ignore users solely because of it.

CT built features for both: private consumption note and public tasting notes.
The idea of the public note is that it’s public and could hopefully help others.
But CT makes it easier to enter a public tasting note than a private consumption note (and to retrieve them).
Sorry to quote myself but CT already calculates an average score based on scores from only those you’re a fan of.
Some (clearly not all) of the non-TN content in the public TNs might be attributable to there being fewer steps to search them than the private consumption notes.
There is also no separate field for score in a private note, which has always been a pet peeve of mine. There should just be a checkbox to make a note private/hide a note, with common features. I understand the business/social media need to make as much public as possible, but maybe just limit it to paying customers.
