Most ugly wine labels?

This one is all over the map…

Not so much ‘ugly’ as confusing:

  • The Frog’s Leap crest, complete with a crown.
  • AOC Mendocino
  • PINK
  • Vin Rosé du Pays
  • Multiple fonts
  • D I A G O N A L S T A M P

I think this is an imitation / parody of the labels of Southern Rhône or Provençe. More a wink of an eye rather than a seriously made label.

At least that’s what I hope.

Good wine, but the label is a bit…

Any label with the owner’s picture on it.

Plus the really crappy French! It should be “La Grenouille Rougissante”! I presume they were going for the Blushing Frog in French. “Rougant” doesn’t exist and “Rouganté” is just silly. Perhaps they found it amusing.

The wine was about as good as the label, well maybe not quite.

I mean… it is a Dornfelder. No Design can save you from that.

I think this will forever be the champion.

Ha! When I was making 35 barrels of beer my first year, I had a Papyrus-font logo. I got a comment from a graphic designer on Facebook about how ugly it looked. In retrospect, it was ugly, but it was free. Shortly afterward, I hired a woman who did a lot of work with wine labels, and did a rebrand. Since we’ll probably sell over 2300 barrels this year, it must have helped…

I just can’t believe that someone with that bad of taste in aesthetics could have good taste in anything else?

I bet Shakira has good taste even if her merch doesn’t.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day

Remember the days when people said “Think of the children” and actually meant it?

Here’s another good one for Valentine’s Day.
Stopped here on one of our visits to Traverse City. I was not a fan of the wines, but I always try to buy a bottle when we taste somewhere.

At least it wasn’t Comic Sans

PS. Obv I wanted to use Comic Sans for this mornings irony dose but it seems that Discourse doesn’t allow one to specify the font (style font-family) which is a bit controlling. .

Reliance on a gimmick like that suggests little attention to quality.
