Sandler Pinot 6 pack is still for sale on their site. Great quality pinot at $25 a bottle and free shipping seems almost like a joke in this day and age but there it is. Just because your friends won’t care about how good the wine is doesn’t mean you should have to drink Meiomi with them.

I ordered a 6-pack of these before I even wrote this post. But I’ll be keeping these for our wine appreciative friends. They may be inexpensive but they punch well above their weight.

For a cheap, crowd pleasing wine which wine geeks also like I’ll once again recommend La Vieille Ferme blanc (not the rouge). A delicious wine at under $10 a bottle.

Ultimately, you should get wines that fit your construct of an “easy drinking” wine that you enjoy, at a price point that’s comfortable for you. That way, you’ll enjoy the wine, and be ok serving it to non-wino friends from a monetary standpoint. If they don’t love it, they don’t have to drink it…but I bet they will.

It really depends on your friends’ palates. I have a number of friends who aren’t into wine at all, but have fairly sophisticated tastes for food, cocktails, beer. I find that they take to “softcore” geek wines like a fish to water. Stuff like Lapierre Morgon, Pepiere’s basic Muscadet sur lie, good Barbera, Rioja crianza, crisp Spanish or Italian whites, good rose, good Cotes du Rhone, good Zinfandel (Bedrock, like someone said), etc. German Kabinett is often a good middle ground for those who want a sweeter wine.

These won’t appeal to all the non-wino types…but it’s worth mentioning that “non-wino” covers a lot of palate preferences.
