More unnecessary, over engineered devices?

I think i’ve posted before that although i’ve never bought anything due to the high prices, I still receive and do tend to read regular emails from the ‘Oregon Pinot Noir Club’.

In the one I got this am, he’s hawking this:

Anybody just love gizmos, or otherwise have an extra $150 they don’t need?

Also, on the branding - I don’t know about you but for some reason when I think/say the word swirl, I think swill. Back in SF there was a wine shop/bar called Swirl, and every time I walked by i’d say oh yeah, Swill…

Pass.

Pretty neat gizmo…I’m in.
Don’t know about its efficacy in aerating the wine, but $150 to add “fun” to my wine tasting experience
seems like a pretty cheap price. I haven’t had any “fun” tasting wine since I got hammered back when
I was 17!!!

omg. Someone took a chemistry lab magnet and stirrer plate to sell as a wine aerator.

You don’t have a sterling silver “magnet retriever” when you use the chem lab version. And don’t forget the “fun” component.
When’s the last time you had “fun” in a chem lab!!! [stirthepothal.gif]

Me too: But I’m a believer in BAYER

With this thread title I expected comments on the iPad…

Very easy to have fun in a lab. Don’t tell anyone but I used to distil my own absinthe when I worked in a lab.

Cheers,
David.

And patented it

I loved the cheesy video. But I’m stumped on how you get a patent on this thing. But I would like a list of all the people who bought one. My magnet-powered foil cutter will blow their minds. Only 79.95.

when I used to be ITB and worked in a wine lab, we used stirring plates all the time to de-gas samples before running tests…at the time, I remember considering the possibility of using one to do exactly this…but I don’t think it is any better of a gadget then a Vinturi, and much more expensive
