Monthly check-in: Cellar inventory reduction plan

100 bottles?

4 out, 11 in.

But 8 of those 11 are .375s. (ducking)

Must I skedaddle, as well?

Sliding toward skedaddle territory, I had my worst month of the year, third gain in a row, and I’m now positive YTD. August WILL be a decrease!!

+27 for July, +15 YTD. Shame.

Those who strive, even should they faill short, will never reach skedaddle territory.

One of the most auspicious typos I’ve seen in a long while:

  1. nice convolution of ā€œfallā€ and ā€œfailā€

  2. an appropriate word in various Gaelics:

In Gaelic, faill means a cliff, precipice, or a chance/opportunity depending on whether it is used in Scottish Gaelic or Irish. [1, 2, 3]

Scottish Gaelic vs. Irish Meanings

  • Scottish Gaelic: Refers to a steep rock, cliff, or precipice (bruach faille). [1, 2]

  • Irish (Gaeilge): Commonly means a chance, occasion, or opportunity (faill), as well as a secondary literary meaning of neglect or an unguarded state

There is a separate cellar inventory expansion thread for … your kind. :winking_face_with_tongue:. Just kidding in case it isn’t obvious.

July: 18 out, 18 in - flat. Hanging on by a thread in a challenging month defined by VinDependence Days, the Bedrock Fall release and some travel. Fortunately lots of opportunities to open bottles!

Comically slow progress, even excluding the handful of 2025 futures Bordeaux bottles (justified as future gifts to celebrate son’s wedding year), which I’ll add later.
