Monthly check-in: Cellar inventory reduction plan

December: 12 out, 10 in - net 2 decrease. One last hard fought small win for the year.

Q4: 41 out, 53 in - net 12 increase, 4/month.

2024 grand total: 170 out, 212 in - net 42 increase, 3.5/month. Worse by a bottle per month than the last two years, but mostly for a good reason. More travel meant less opportunity to drink down the inventory.

Regions in order of consumption:

Happy new year, and a healthy and successful 2025!

+5 for December, which is better than November which was better than October, but with the kids in town to bolster holiday drinking, December really needed to come in negative as it has in prior years. Fail. Some killer deals, a few gifts, a few cellar gaps filled, and here we are. But that’s +195 for the year, just terrible.

Here’s to austerity in 2025!

December was fine:
39 In (mainly bubblies)
49 Out

2024 in total:
239 In
234 Out

Guess, that’s o.k. - at least I was able to cut purchasing by 23%, which is the minimum goal for 2025 too.

And here comes the 2024 closing:

in: +100
Out: -159

2024 total = -59 bottles

Very happy to finally have succeeded!

Thinking about the target for 2025, and at least aiming to not increase the inventory, though a consecutive year of reduction would be sweet.

I had a December which was marked by some allocations arriving and ended up with + 65 bottles for the month. I will have more success in January and 2025 in general - that’s a promise to myself
