I was just there. It’s surprisingly devoid of retail wine shops. The Cheese Shop is likely the best option. There are a number of tasting rooms. It’s a small village. So that may explain it.
Monterey wasn’t much better.
I found better wines retail in Cambria. Go figure.

I unfortunately came up from Cambria and Paso which has a bunch.
Cheese shop is legit for finding fun and interesting wines. There is also a grocery store(nielsen bros) on 7th and Dolores that has a decent wine selection as well

I agree with Cheese shop. We went a few years ago, maybe late 2022 and they had a room for special wines, had thinks like 02 Krug for a good price, a few burgs etc. Not can’t miss or mind blowing but its a good shop that’s actually in Carmel.

Cheese shop had a great selection, but nothing caught our fancy 
We did buy a lot of great jam and chocolate!
We wanted to check out Stave Wine Cellars at Spanish Bay, but we meandered too much during our 17 mile drive.
