Moderate Drinkers of Wine Less Likely to Be Depressed

Woohoo!

Right, but moderate drinkers of White Burgundy are more likely to be depressed

Yes, yes… Ye ol’ premox!

How much do I have to drink to be completely depression-free?

I think the researcher has it wrong in this case by looking for a causation link between the two. I’ve posted on this before, but my experience is that heavy drinkers are essentially self-medicating because they’re already depressed and mentally ill. Whereas moderate drinkers are not so they don’t feel the need to overindulge.

Starting out with a non depressed population and then looking for an association with depression due to factor x doesn’t seem like a very sound design. four replies and nobody jumped on the conflict of interest mentioned?

Tran.
Any time is a good time to exploit a nice correlation. I like the sentiment. Not sure this is really true however.
It is like saying that all people who died in a given interval had at some point eaten broccoli. That is most likely true. Not sure the broccoli was the cause of their demise.

These kinds of “breakthrough” items are depressing.

Color me giddy.

Drinking wine does not make me more or less depressed.

Seeing people conflate correlation and causation does make me depressed.
