Mini-Chinon Night with MarcF: 1990 Raffault, 2010 Baudry Croix Boissee

When we were in Chinon 3 or so years ago, I tried to order a bottle of 2010 Croix B. at Lardois, which is where Matthieu suggested we should eat. The staff there spent about 10 minutes trying to talk me out of it, bringing by several other options, telling me the wine was too big, too young. They were right, of course, but I really wanted to try the full bottle, which we eventually did. (Nice restaurant, by the way)

You damn American heathen, John! You shoulda just ordered a diet coke!

How would they have known I was American?

Couldn’t pronounce “Boissee”? [scratch.gif]

I’m sure I bastardize it.

Great notes. Alfert: I fix biceps, and accept payment in Loire cab franc and reedy, acidic wines.

AWESOME! I can prepare the contract!

Ortho surgeon?

BTW, our good friend Johnny Morris and his tasting group, with none other than Brett and stem sensitive DavidZ, are having a major Loire CF tasting tonight. I tried to crash it but got snubbed. Hope they post notes…

The '89 Raffault was singing. In fact, it’s still singing after the group left me with a quarter bottle. In fact, I’m singing.

Boissee is easy. It’s the “Croix” that’s the dead give away.
