Mila (f/k/a “The XCJ”) Soup Dumplings?

DTF is opening in Santa Monica? That should be interesting. Hopefully the rush at the Century City location will drop a bit.

For those in SoCal and a couple other locations, there’s Yummi Dumplings. Started by former DTF people during the pandemic, they deliver periodically to central locations in LA, the Bay Area, San Diego, and Austin, TX, and more regularly within Orange County. Their XLB are great (we get the “thin”), and we adore the Shenjen (pan fried) bao.

Referral code gets us each $7 off: Order dumplings delivered to you. Easy to cook in minutes. – Yummi Dumplings

Depending on the size of “metro”, there are actually four.
Downtown, U District, Bellevue and Southcenter.

Really like DTF, but I think it has gone down some since opening them all. There is now a main kitchen where some things are made then delivered to the restaurants. It’s in the same SoDo complex as SOH, Rotie, Patterson, Nine Hats……

I have been fortunate enough to eat at the original Din Tai Fung in Taipei- twice. Both times were in the same 5 day period. The second time was on my oldest son’s 15th birthday. We got off the subway, came up to the street, and he says, “Hey! Isn’t Din Tai Fung just around the corner? It’s my birthday. Can we have breakfast there?” We did have breakfast there (and they let us in and seated us about 30 minutes prior to their posted opening time) and it was one of my proudest moments as a father. The meal was spectacular.

Thanks all…just got the sampler pack (plus another pack of chicken @$29). I enjoy the Trader Joe’s ones plenty so I’m sure these will be a decent size upgrade :chopsticks:

Just ordered their Black Friday deal which is any bag of 50 dumplings for $10. You do have to order something else, but you’ll probably want dipping sauces and another bag of dumplings anyways since everything else is 20% off.

Btw the company is called MILA now … eatmila.com

No snow in Cleveland?

Was on the shore this afternoon. Ice/Snow was blowing in sideways, but every mile inland mellowed substantially. We are at start of the snow belt ~12 miles east, 5 mi south. I think they are getting blasted towards/in PA.

12” in Erie as of late afternoon. Western NY in multiples of feet? Lake effect snow seems very localized.

Yeah my FIL unbeknownst to any of us took a job as a snowplow driver a week ago as a retirement gig for the Cleveland Clinic.

Well it’s heavy machinery with a 15 ft plow and he just likes to drive heavy machinery lol. Probably do it for free I bet but…

He got called in right after thanksgiving dinner festivities at 9pm to an hospital a bit east and didn’t make it home until 9am.

In the meantime, my MIL called me at 1am because she slipped from the sleet taking the dog out and broke her arm. So I was at the ER all night while he was playing with big equipment.

Snow is fun :joy: (I do love it)

Talk bout thread drift!

Yikes, better an arm than a leg or hip.

This could be the basis of a sitcom.

That name again is …

Gonna have to be HBO …
Due to scintillating and inexhaustible use of Carlins 7 words, although it must be at least double that these days.
