Mike Smith Chicago Event

Mike and Leah hosted a large mailing list customer event last night in Chicago including their Myriad label plus McGah/Scarlett and Quivet projects. Cool new loft venue on Fulton Market. He spoiled the crowd with an amazing array of bottled projects and 2012 barrel sample previews. The lineup:

2012 1070 Green Sauvignon Blanc
2012 Scarlett Zinfandel (new wine)
2011 Scarlett Cabernet
2012 Scarlett Petit Verdot BT (new one)
2012 Scarlett Cabernet BT

2013 Myriad Tofanelli Semillon
2011 Myriad Dr. Crane
2012 Myriad Three Twins Cabernet BT
2012 Myriad Georges III Cabernet BT
2012 Myriad Dr Crane Cabernet BT

2013 Quivet Tench Sauvignon Blanc
2012 Quivet Pellet Cabernet BT
2012 Quivet Las Piedras BT (new)

Mike’s 12 cabs were firing on all cylinders across the board. Alive and full fruit with lots of character and power. Smith fans are going to be very very happy this year…

Awesome. Always a good time. Nicer people you would have a tough time finding.

I look forward to his CLONYC visit in just about 5 weeks.

Sounds like a great event. I wish I could have been there.

Does anyone know which 2012 cabernets will be released in July and their prices?

My wife and I are visiting with Mike next month. I’m looking forward to trying a bunch of those '12 cabs!

Should be everything from 2012 other than the Dr. Crane reserve, which was included in the Syrah release from last January.

+1 on this event. Tremendous wines across the board. The 2012 barrel samples were eye openers. For me, the 2012 Quivet Las Piedras, and 2012 Myriad Dr. Crane were at the top. The Three Twins was also outstanding. Can’t say enough nice things about Mike and Leah… Very happy to have had the opportunity to try the 2012’s. My credit card, however, not so much … [cheers.gif]

Hard to imagine but the event was even better than last years Chicago stop. Leah made the trip this year along with their daughter. Such great people. And the 2012 Cab lineup? I was putting checkmarks next to the wines I wanted to buy and they all had checkmarks. Now I need to whittle the list down or the VISA is going to melt. This is definitely a back-up-the-truck mailing in July. Honestly did not try one wine that I thought was just ok. You’ll be happy with them all but the Myriad Cr. Crane was outstanding.

I’ve been following these wines from harvest. Exceptional across the board. The Napa Valley CS may be the QPR of the season.

Maybe a Seattle event sometime? Please, please, please flirtysmile

Shhhh! +1

No different than 2010 & 2011. [highfive.gif]

+1 Seattle!!

How about a nice location between Chicago and New York, such as Cleveland?? [cheers.gif]
