OMG … would you look at these: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/26/dining/26unit.html?ref=dining
This style is over-the-top, but decadently good.
We have stands all over LA; always outside Staples center pre and post events, in Hollywood parked outside bars/night clubs. Nothing like feeling the pain of this gut bomb the morning after…
I don’t know - I can’t bring myself to mayo on a hot dog (or crumbled potato chips). The latter reminds me of a Little Caesar’s “Mexican” pizza that they marketed a dozen years ago, with cumbled tortilla chips on top.
Seems worth trying. Does this diagram (from the AZ Daily Star) look representative? How about substituting sour cream for the mayo?

these are totally amazing! They are all over california. Did not read the article but they came across the border and there are just gobs and gobs of places in Tucson that sell these things. They kind of remind me of that insane hot dog Bourdain ate in I think it was Chile. That dog has mayo on it also with some serious toppings but then it is capped with about a cup of guacamole. You would have to be seriously drunk to eat one.
Me want one.
