okay, in the past few months or so I’ve had the pleasure of going to 3 outstanding Mexican byob’s here in Chicago. Two,Sol de Mexico and Fonda del Mar, have now obtained a liquor liscense but they do maintain reasonable corkage and a overall byob friendly philosophy. Mixteco Grill is still BYOB only.

All three have excellent moles, excellent seafood with suprisingly good ceviche.
I would rank Fonda del Mar 1 and the other 2 1A and 1B. Also, Sol de and the Fonda del Mar on fullerton are in off the beaten path locations( while a new Fonda Del Mar has opened up on Lincoln Ave. across from Martyrs). Anywho, if you enjoy a little adventure in the city type of night check them out.
