I went to a dinner where the 2000 Pegau Reservee was supposed to be served out of magnum.
The wine had good density. A real sense of garrigue and meaty aromas.
The flavor was classic for this domaine. Big red fruit. Good ripeness to me. Great freshness. The finish showed a real meatiness. The depth was very good.
I was surprised to find that they had served me the 2002 Pegau Reservee out of magnum. If you bought these wines, you need to drink them. Delicious stuff right now.
When I first had this several years ago, it was dominated by a green bell pepper aroma and flavor. That is now integrated and has declined into the background.
What you have is classic Chateauneuf du Pape!
Nice job Laurence. You don’t have to send me that soap made from the rest of the grapes. (Inside joke here)
