Matching help: Chili

Going non-traditional this Christmas with a boneless chuck roast & red bean chili. Making it on the milder side off spicy. What wine can I pair with it that’ll satisfy both the M.I.L. (Chardonnay drinker) and myself (thinking Zin, Grenache or Syrah with chili).

TIA

Your contryman has some good advice…

If it’s not too hot a good grenache blend will work. Otherwise as Bill says, beer/

Oh not-so-wise sir,

There’s a reason I asked for a “W I N E” pairing. The mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law (who is coming along as well) are not beer drinkers. But thanks for playing. headbang

Wine or whine?

With that many people at the table…just open up multiple bottles…zin for you…and some chard for the ladies…sounds like they wont know the difference (no offense)

Not many people at all. It’ll be just Zoe, her mother & grandmother and myself. My brother in law and his wife will show up for dessert later on. He’ll probably be buzzed on G&Ts already by then. But I do like your style Mr. Bowden…although it might not look good for me to down an entire 750 of Zin by myself. [wink.gif]

I got a call one Easter from a customer saying “This Lambrusco is a HIT! Even my mother in law who puts Equal in her Chardonnay LOVES it…”

Well dah! THAT’S been determined already.
