According to their Instagram page (@marioniwine), Dan Marioni, the owner/winemaker of Sonoma’s Marioni Wine (https://www.marioniwine.com/) and his wife Jessie were walking a California beach with their infant daughter, when an unexpected wave launched a large piece of a redwood tree toward them. Fortunately, their baby was unharmed, but Jessie was struck. She sustained a complex pelvic fracture, necessitating transfer to a trauma center and a lot of surgery.
She is facing medical bills and a prolonged recovery, necessitating help with childcare and other in-home help, as you can imagine.
