Make it rain

After a summer rain things smell shaper, there’s just more clarity in the air. Well the 2005 Raveneau Chablis ‘Chapelot’ touches the senses much in the same way as summer rain. There’s a scent of rainwater, flowers and honeysuckle along with a little saltiness. In the mouth this wine is in focus, there are preserved lemons, minerals and wet stones ( I don’t as a rule suck on wet stones but have an imagination). A little time in the glass (and I do mean a little time as we punched this delicious thing in faster than the surgeon general may recommend) and there’s some subtle creaminess that comes to the fore. Brilliant Chablis just entering what I suspect is a long drinking window.

Jeremy, I don’t own any Raveneau, but that note certainly makes my trigger finger itchy. Sounds delicious, Good job!

Jeremy,

I was planning on cellaring my single bottle of this until 2015, but you sure are making it difficult for me. As it happens, I’m sacrificing my single bottle of MdT from the same vintage this Sunday at Barry 8; all for the sake of empirical science of course. Will post notes as usual.
