  • 1982 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (6/23/2009)
    Sunny Lunch in Hampsted- decanted a few hours.a little lightening around the edges but not much, great sexy nose of black fruit and a touch of cherries. there was a little mustiness around but it was blew right off, in the mouth this was great, tart black fruit, some tobacco and just nice and lush from front to back, had a nice medium long finish and quite a youthful weight to it. this bottle was in great shape and has years of pleasure left in it. great with the steaks (94 pts.)
  • 2002 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Chapelot - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (6/23/2009)
    Sunny Lunch in Hampsted- a beautiful light yellow with green hue ( i love this color on chablis and some other younger whites) on the nose some sulfur , which blew off, some minerality and citrus. at first taste the wine was nice and light on the mouth but quite straight, some lemony citrus, really lovely, and it got better and better, filling out a bit as lunch went on. last glass was better than first. this wine has many years left in it (93 pts.)

Nice lunch, Ken – I am envious! The '82 PL remains a Bordeaux reference wine for me - while I may have had other Bordeaux from time-to-time that have impressed me more, I can’t think of a single one that has given me more pure drinking pleasure. And not a bad choice at all for the “obligatory starter white” [notworthy.gif]
