Luke Donald

I happened to taste his 2008 chardonnay same day he wins a tournament. Pretty decent wine for a very good golfer.

Paul.
I am drinking some wine next weekend with one of the few scratch golfing winemakers, Mitch Cosentino. Seems that a lot of the guys are putting their brand on wine now. I think Fred Couples has a line also.

Some stuff is awful like Ernie Els and Greg Norman wines. I was actually surprised this one was decent. Have fun at the tasting Don.

Not sure I agree on the Greg Norman stuff. His wine is pretty quaffable, esp. the Shiraz and Shiraz-Cab blends. A solid and reliable grocery store wine. No doubt that these guys are capitalizing on their name recognition, though. Would we even comment on these producers if they didn’t have their name on the bottle?

The biggest disconnect between golfer/wine is Nick Faldo’s wine. Saw an interview when released and as he was sipping the wine they asked him what it was and he actually stated he had no idea. Then hinted that he actually doesn’t even like wine that much!
David Frost (now a senior player) is actually pretty serious about making his own wine in South Africa between rounds of golf.

Golfers with wine labels.

I’ve had one or two of the Ernie Els bottles and thought they were good, but it was several years ago, and I am generally fond of South African wines, which I know is not a common view among wine geeks.

There was a John Daly line of wines at one point, but they aren’t around anymore.
