Los Gatos/Santa Cruz/Monterey Group Dinner #18

@Ian_Alper and I determined that it’s been too long, and that we should return to Ivéta Downtown in Santa Cruz. We have a reservation for a party of 12 on May 5th, 6:00pm. No-theme theme in effect. Bring cash and stems. All are welcome!

Bumping this up - one person dropped out, so we have one spot open for tonight.

Great night as always and some wonderful grape juice! The Cab Franc, both Syrahs, the lovely and delicate white Burgundy, the dynamic Georgian red, the champagne that was trussed up like Hannibal Lecter, all the other sparklings, #7 that George thought was too young, even my Gewurztraminer, everything was singing. There was laughter and some deep conversations and simple fun. Thanks again to Uli and Ian for the organizing and invite. We won’t bring up the doomed Chardonnay. LOL

Excellent summary Robert… good to see you! I really enjoyed the diversity in yesterday’s lineup:

All showing well, the sparkling from three countries so distinct. Raumland representing Germany well. Clash of the titans in in the Pinot group, hard to say for me whether the Cuvée Romain Lignier or the Rhys Alpine Hillside was my favorite, with Little Cloud holding its own. Lagier Meredith Mondeuse in a perfect spot. And I finally got to try a Ravenswood Cab Franc, that was exciting.

The Chardonnay wasn’t doomed, it was murdered. I got a replacement bottle today, I’ll bring it next time.

I think Robert said doomed because it was the second attempt, see Los Gatos/Santa Cruz/Monterey Group Dinner #17 - #8 by Ian_Alper. Third time’s the charm!

I did not know that, thanks. I was not there the first time! Not my fault! LOL Third time someone will knock it off the table

We’ll put the copper harness from the Beau Joie on it, it will be indestructible.
