I’m in and thank you for organizing!

Hey folks, unfortunately I had a tire blowout on the way back from Sebastopol last night.
They just ordered my new tire, so it’s unlikely I will make it this Thursday.

Uli, thank you for organizing us. I hope to make it to the next one or see you here in the East Bay soon. Cheers all, can’t wait to jealously admire the lineup!

Unfortunately I don’t think I can swing it on a Thursday to make it down there but hopefully next time! Thanks all, enjoy

Juan, sorry to hear… Michael, thanks for the heads up. Yes, we should get the next one on the calendar. Hope to see you soon.

Just realized that I mentioned this privately to a couple of people, but not here: I tried to get the corkage fee capped, to no avail. So HRK’s default corkage policy will apply - first six bottles free, each one thereafter $25. They will provide a couple of decanters and dump buckets. We should still bring our own stems.

Looking forward to seeing you tonight!

Juan! I didn’t realize you were on the original list. Bummer that you won’t be able to come down. Glad you’re safe. Hope to taste with you again soon.

Cheers and thanks to Uli and Ian for coordinating this wonderful evening. Great wine and greater company. Still tasting the 75 and 77 Cabs.

Looks like a great night—bummed that this is just a few days before I am going to be in the area. Anyone post TNs by any chance?

Best

Mike

Sorry we missed you Mike. Another grand evening though I am not sure anyone was taking notes.

The two older California Cabs were nice. Not profound but not musty nor funky. I thought the 75 Mirassou had more going on for it in terms of a little fruit remaining. The Sterling did not offend but neither did it offer much pleasure. Sure was great brings and much appreciated.

I wrapped the Sandlands 2017 Merlot as a mystery bottle and was very impressed that two folks from the other end of the table (Maelyn and?) were able to guess it as a Merlot with few hints. Bright red fruit and high acid - I was intrigued the first time I had tried it and was looking forward to other’s guesses.

The Odonata sparkling reserve was quite nice (my bring) and I thought equaled the Under the Wire sparkling.

My first time trying an Echezeaux (a very generous contribution). Wonderful fruit and great balance. I imagine that more time in the bottle will bring out the complexity that might justify the tariff.

The white Bourgogne, brought by Tom, was delicious and we were blown away to find out the price - what a QPR.

All other bottles were enjoyable though I was disappointed in the Arnot Roberts that I found to be somewhat angular and perhaps needing more time?

The ABC was apparently the first vintage. Uli had brought a bottle at our last gathering in Santa Cruz that was quite over the hill. This bottle performed much better. Just intersting though but not offensive.

By the time the Port came around I was out of taste buds. Great people, wonderful food. So impressed by what our on-line community brings to the “real” world. Several new faces and I am looking forward to doing it again soon ! Hope we catch you one of these days!

I met Uli at Falltacular and he turned me onto this dinner series. Looks great. I’ve been spending a lot of weekends in Santa Cruz, so I may be in for the next dinner.
