Very similar to my experience (although, I’d note, Balsan is just steps away and it was hopping when we were there). Maybe they just picked a bad time to open a $$$$ restaurant. I haven’t been to Tru in years, but my meal at Ria surpassed my admittedly foggy memories of Tru.
What is it in Chicago about the Michelin accolades? One of the two *** left and now two of the three ** … though they did seem to be on their game as the food was excellent as was the service
Good question. Chefs are a different breed though.
Went to Tru this past weekend and it is as good as its ever been. I had the same or some of the same dishes as Mark did and felt pretty much the same way. We didn’t have any slip ups, everything went smoothly. I personally would put it in the top two or three in the city behind Alinea.
