I suppose that it isn’t so different from Maryland, but for us Pennsyltuckians DE is a wine-shopping paradise. I like State Line; Moore Bros; and Kreston (been years since I’ve been there); and I look forward to visiting Rob Panzer’s new Liquid Culture. The food writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer likes a store named Swigg and also recommends 4 restaurants (at least 2 of which have already been recommended)…https://www.inquirer.com/columnists/wilmington-restaurant-review-bardea-laban-20220318.html

State Line in MD is/was a good wine store.

I can’t get past the fact there’s really a place called Snuff Mill. It must be terribly popular for Holloween.

Kennett Square is known for Mexican restaurants catering to the farm workers (mushrooms). I’d also highly recommend visiting the Brandywine River Museum of Art (Museum | Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art).

I was going to suggest Mexican food too (if you want to eat like a local), but sounds like the guy wants to spend money.
Also, a lot of good food within Longwood itself. And a second on the Brandywine museum, especially if you have any interest in the Wyeth’s (yes, plural). And DO NOT drive to Philly to stay. Traffic is East Coast intense and NO FUN.
