Littorai Winter Release

Just jumped on the list, anyone consistent buyers each release?

I bought for a few years. Didnt like their mailing list setup having to buy a mixed bag at a shot for their “desirable” allocations and shipping was very expensive ($91/6pack) The wines were good, but need patience and I found myself enjoying the value wines better. Raen, RM.

One of the only wines I still buy. I have plenty of wine after years of buying. These wines are stellar. Even the basic Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and Pinots are great. This release the Vin Gris is offered, always a buy for me

I did some work for Ted and Heidi when they were living in St. Helena (years ago). GREAT wine, really solid ppl. I just wish I could afford more Littorai wine!

the shipping might make the choice easier especially being on the east coast, $15 a bottle plus tax on top is a no go

I used to buy quite a bit of US pinot - Littorai, Williams Selyem, Rhys, Copain, Rivers Marie, Cobb, etc. I stopped a few years ago when I realized that I simply had too much wine. I like pinots with age and have been slowly going through them over the years. Littorai has consistently been my favorite of the bunch - by a wide margin. Excellent across the board, with Thieriot, Haven, and Summa primus inter pares. I still have a few of these left and look forward to cracking them.

Great wines. Shipping costs are way out of line. I do not like that I can not purchase just the wines I want. I stopped buying.

Echoing other folks on the board. I like the wines, but ultimately the cost and way that the club mix was put together made it tough to justify when I like Ceritas a tiny bit more.

I’m on the mailing list, but not in the club, and to the best of my recollection I’ve always been able to chose the bottles without any premade packages.

You’re obviously restricted to whats actually allocated to you there, but Ive always had lots of choice.

Bought from them for 5 years or so and then prices started creeping up, so we dropped off. That said, never been disappointed by anything Ted Lemon has made. Man is an amazing winemaker.

This is all really helpful. It’s been a while since i purchased. What’s the general price for the SVDs?

Littorai was my first “aha” moment with wine so they always carry a lot of sentimental value. The price creep has just been a bit too much for me over the last few years. Completely deserved for what they’re doing on the West Sonoma Coast, but it’s been challenging to justify buying from the mailing list in recent years at MSRP + shipping fees when I can find better deals for similar options IMO on WineBid (Ceritas, Hirsch) or K&L (they regularly have sales on Cobb Single Vineyard offerings).

That said, there is no doubting the quality. Great juice, great people. Don’t sleep on their Charles Heintz Chardonnay either. Them and Ceritas source from a specific plot that they farm organically.

I’m in the club and fill in gaps during their releases than aren’t offered in the Vintner’s collection. I visited their beautiful farm several years ago and was hooked. Great wine, big fan!

Shipping varies based on how many bottles - like you I’m in ATL area. Can be lower (eg, $39 to ship 4 bt - $73 for case). Still not cheap but not $15 each.

Most of the release wines @ $100 bottle which is my bigger issue. Love their juice, but lots of other values still out there.

Yeah, a bit out of my range for something not Burgundy or special like an Aubert or Ceritas.

First time on the list, $585 + tax and shipping. How does that compare to previous years?

I was on that list over 10 years ago and compared to the increases else where those don’t look terrible. Les Larmes was $40ish and singles in $60-70 range over a decade ago

Not much history here but Pivot and Haven are $5 more than 2021; Cerise is $15 more than 2020

I searched my email and found some historical pricing

2012 les larmes $46
2010 roman and mays canyon pinot $70

I also found the mailer for the 2012 single Vineyards and they were mostly 65 and $70

These wines were never inexpensive, but when you consider how much other wines have increased in price, these actually look pretty darn fair relative to where they were. As a point of comparison, scarecrow is now about three times as much as the 2012 vintage was
