Limoncello in the U.S

I learned to enjoy limoncello during our trip to Italy last year. I wanted to buy some for home, but I don’t really know where to start.

What’s the best limoncello available in the U.S.? Bonus points if I can buy it locally and don’t have to have it shipped.

I have found them to be very hit or miss. pay attention to the abv. lower abv tends to be sweeter and more syrupy, I like mine closer to 30%. I’ve enjoyed the brand Bellini which I think is available at total wine

If you’re adventurous, and since you live in Indiana you can buy grain alcohol, you can make your own. Soak lemon peels (make sure the white pith is scraped off) in a bottle in a sealed container for a month. Strain, and mix with simple syrup to desired taste and strength. There are recipes online.

I was going to suggest this. Easy to make your own.

Came here to say this! I’ve haven’t had much luck with commercially available ones.

Thanks for the tip on Bellini limoncello. I’m enjoying a (small) glass this evening while watching the Milano Olympics. :lemon::clinking_glasses:

We used to make this also with lime, tangerine and grapefruit peels with excellent results. In CA we used 151 proof Everclear which was legal to purchase from our distributor.
