Chambolle AOC. It’s gotten too expensive for me – there are many 1ers I’d rather have for the same price – but in my mind the Chambolle AOC is the quintessential Mugnier bottling and probably the best Chambolle AOC made. A beautiful wine that transcends its appellation and communicates so clearly what the producer is trying to accomplish. It’s a singular wine and scratches the Mugnier itch. I like the Clos de la Marechale as well but it’s not as exciting to me.
While agree that the AC Chambolle is the best wine of the little three from Mugnier, I would argue that Roumier’s Chambolle AC is the very best Chambolle AC in Burgundy.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the Ch-M Village 2011 last week, but the Marechale was really fine. Usually the Village is excellent, but my fav. is Les Fuées (except Musigny of course).
For simple unadulterated pleasure the village wine is the best. Smooth, sexy seductive. Very expensive now. Tasted a 2005 the other day … such a good wine.
