Legit bottle?

Stumbled upon this thread after a friend of mine questioned these ‘96 Chave I recently purchased from an auction because of the OWC. Sure enough it seems like Chave did not use wood cases but used cardboard at the time. It does say online that some importers would create owc for mags… but stil odd to see the mismatch box and label.

Did you mean Acker? Because the bottles pictured passed through their hands.

Well I see at one point it passed thru Acker but this from a recent auction.

On the back label, the wine was acquired from a private collection and transported by Wine Cellars Ltd., which moves wine for Acker and others.

Those bottles have been owned and moved several times or more. Do you have any additional info about their provenance?

I’m fairly confident these are late release bottles. Seems like Chave released mags of the 96 in 2022-2024.

If that is the case, it definitely raises more questions about the bottle I initially posted given the differnet label.

I wouldn’t be concenred about the woodcase since the label seems to be in line with what we would expect from '96 vintage.
