Dinner after a special occasion. Any thoughts would be quite welcome. Cost isn’t really an issue, just want to know what to expect and if there are any can’t miss things about it- obviously the view should be nice.

I think it may be a little cold and impersonal for what you plan. Plus you may want some privacy. Try booking George V and get a table at le Cinq and brief the restaurant.
If this is a romantic special occasion, a window seat at La Tour d’Argent overlooking Notre Dame would be hard to beat, given that “cost really isn’t an issue.”

My visits to Jules Verne predate the Alain Ducasse regime, so I’m loath to comment on specifics. But you are absolutely correct about the view.
I haven’t been to Jules Verne in a long time ('03) but cold and impersonal are not the words i’d choose. I will admit there are more intimate places with better food, but Jules Verne is definitely a romantic experience. Definitely dine at a time you can watch the sun go down.
Don’t go there in the summer, the place is full of large flies, really disgusting.
Just had lunch there a few days ago. Spectacular view, very good food, friendly waitstaff. Price was steep but on the whole the experience was quite positive. Wine list is extensive. We had a 2007 Chassagne-Montrachet Cailleret from Fontaine-Gagnard which was chilled perfectly.
Designated elevator is fun because it goes up and sideways to follow the contour of one of the “legs” of the tower.
We had sunny weather and could see for miles. I now wish I could try it again on some clear evening with the City of Lights twinkling below.

FWIW, my wife and I took our two kids to the lower end restaurant on the Eiffel Tower which was surprisingly good. My kids (ages 9 & 7) loved it and the views and pix during sunset were truly amazing.
