I was browsing a local Williams-Sonoma store today after lunch, and they had a floor display with a sign for a 3.5 qt Le Creuset Wide Dutch Oven for $99. They had some normal 3.5qt dutch ovens stacked around it, but the sale is only on the WIDE version, which isn’t nearly as deep but there’s more surface area to work with.
This is only in-store, and they said that it was a new model from Le Creuset, but I’m not sure that they knew what they were talking about. At any rate, I immediately thought of several things that I would use it for, so it was a no-brainer for me. They didn’t have very many in stock, and there are only 3 colors available.
oh good deal! Since my friend quit working at W-S I can’t use her awesome 50% discount anymore =(. Bought a Lime Oval French/dutch oven and a bunch of riedel hehe.
Damn…50% off? That’s almost worth the effort of weaseling your way into a part-time job there, crushing the discount for as much as you can, and then quitting.
The best part of the deal was that I wasn’t even looking or thinking about buying anything. I was there to check out the Breville Commercial blender, as I am completely mindf*cking the whole Vita-Mix vs. Blendtec vs something cheaper thing. Once we figured out the deal (we being me and everyone working there at the time), one of the women working the floor threatened to wrestle me to the ground if I didn’t buy it at that price.
