LastBottleWines.com (Last Bottle Wines) Deal Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Delectus was part of the Vintage Wine Estates bankruptcy in 2024. I would not be shocked if the brand was sold, and is one of the many brands now being resurrected by Last Bottle.

LB did liquidate a lot of their older vintages in early 2025.

Think that’s a LB owned label that uses bulk juice now.

I know grain of salt and all but I have a wine spectator magazine subscription.

If I see a wine label that hasn’t had a review in a decade (especially if they had reviews for 10 years up until a point) or has no track record, I become a bit suspicious knowing the landscape of the site.

They mingle brands they bought or went bankrupt with actual deals on wine that they acquired. I don’t hate on those offerings, just rather go with something that I can look up and know what it sold for, taste, etc.

So LB buys up defunct labels and bulks out wine under those labels, with a Wilfred Wong-esque Decanter score to prop it up?

That sounds right, and it was probably discussed a bunch upthread and I didn’t see it.

Thoughts on the mystery case (actually 6 bottles) of white and sparkling offered now?

I missed the whites/sparkling case, but I can say pretty confidently this mixed reds half case they’re selling for $159 will include:

Robert Voerzio Langhe Nebbiolo ($30 on LB previously)
North Valley Vineyards WV Pinot ($15 on LB previously)
Gary Farrell single vineyard RRV Pinot ($29 on LB previously, though unclear which one it is)
Guarachi Sun Chase Petaluma Gap Pinot ($29 on LB previously)
Skinner Grenache (not offered on LB previously AFAIK, though their MourvĂšdre and Syrah have shown up around $15)

The only one I’m not sure of is the red burgundy. Overall seems like not great value for a mystery case that runs $27/bottle.

Wish they would do LB bin ends mystery cases (essentially random LB leftover bottles at some guaranteed discount to the original LB sales prices). Would be a great sale for end of Marathon or between marathons. Currently the mystery cases tend to be just standard LB “deals” where you have less info than usual.

AGREED.
Maybe they can get there?

Looks like the current mystery bottle is 2014 Morlet Passionment. Sold deal for $109, but I’m swimming in Napa cab so will pass

Anyone have a discount code available? (Not my first order.)

I’m in for a few more of the Morlet. Got a couple of bottles last time and wish I had bought more so I’m glad it came back up! Excellent wine.

New mystery bottle. Winebuyer.app seems to think it’s Lail Vineyards J. Daniel CuvĂ©e Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

It sounds like Inglenook

This is what Claude suggested as well. Everything seems to line up. “The wine is named after someone VERY famous — at least within the annals of California wine lore. Not the Tennessee whiskey baron.” J. Daniel, not Jack Daniels.

Pretty sure it’s Lail Vineyards J. Daniel CuvĂ©e Cabernet Sauvignon 2022.

Alcohol %, ratings and other details match.

Is it worth $129?

In my humble opinion, no lol. It’s a 2022 so young. The 2014 Morlet is a much better buy IMO.

2014 Morlet Passionment is an excellent bottle of wine. Highest recommendation. Sadly I missed this one.
