i have never tried any wines from cain. are they well liked by this community?
I really wish youâd get in the spirit of the Marathon. ![]()
Us either. Bit on a mystery bottle of regular Cain V yesterday but interested in hearing if itâs another insider gem, and thoughts on NV vs. regular bottlings.
Iâm taking about reputable wine retailers like Hi-Time, K&L, Wine Exchange, Bottle Barn, Saratoga, etc.
Iâve had a few of their wines over the years and visited the winery a decade or so ago. Good wine. Cain Five is their top wine and is great, needs some age, but not as much as the Elivette. Cain Concept is their mid-priced wine and is also quite tasty. The Cain CuvĂ©e NV is ther low end blend, Iâd normally buy for around $35 or so, so $18 is a good price. I havenât ever had it aged though, so canât speak to the NV14 and how it has held up for a decade (tho so just bought some). I expect some good pricing overall, as $39 for Cain Five is great too.
Well, today is sure boring. Wish they would roll through the offerings a little quicker, then return as needed. Bet thereâs lots of inventory left.
Many thanks to all of you for your perspectives and enthusiasm.
Nice haul. As a heads up the 2020 spirit hill from argyle is likely smoke tainted. Had a bottle last night and one about a month ago.
We bought some last marathon and it was fine. Perhaps bottle variation?
Is something wrong with the website, they have had the same $18 bottle for the last hour +
Ah lucky you. The 18 reserve has been delicious though.
Yawn.
Two hours.
Nothing to see here folks. letâs move onâŠ
2015 Cain Five is up, I believe
in for 4
I was really hoping that the the Elivette, but the blend doesnât work
First marathon, or post marathon, purchase. In for 2
Just an FYI, itâll be all Cain wines today.
Cain is good wine, but not exactly a huge draw. Early in my career I was a draftsman and used Intergraph CAD software. I went to the big conference in Huntsville, AL a few times and Cain V was served at the evening party - the founder was apparently one of the founders of Cain Winery as well. It was a very nice pourâŠ
edit: from All About Cain - Cain Vineyard & Winery
The first crush at the new winery, christened âCain Cellars,â was in the fall of 1982, at the newly constructed winery. Jim and Nancy Meadlock joined the Cains in 1986, and, in 1991, assumed sole ownership of the property. Chris Howell, who began consulting to the Cains in 1990, took over direction in 1991.
Intergraph was founded in 1969 as M&S Computing, Inc., by former IBM engineers Jim Meadlock, his wife Nancy, Terry Schansman (the S of M&S), Keith Schonrock, and Robert Thurber who had been working with NASA and the U.S. Army in developing systems that would apply digital computing to real time missile guidance. The company was later renamed to Intergraph Corporation in 1980.[4]
Excellent feedback! Looking forward to trying a bottle.
The only remaining mystery from this âMystery Dayâ is when theyâre going to shut down this snooze fest.
