Nam kao todd, chicken wings, beef jerky, northern (pork) larb, steak koi soi (tartare), duck khao soi, whole deep fried lobster if there are sufficient people to eat it, otherwise garlic prawns (which are cooked the same way), soft shell crab salad, whole fried catfish with lime, peanuts and cashews…

There is only so much 2 people can eat in one sitting.
That’s why I omitted dessert. Mango with sticky rice and coconut ice cream.

If you want the whole lobster, call them a few days in advance to make sure they have one for you.
So my trip to the US including Las Vegas is getting closer. As one of the evenings is on NYE, do you need to book well in advance? Was planning to book early December, or is that too late?
My wife is pregnant so wine will be less of an option unfortunately.
Still considering Lamaii + Sparrow & Wolf, but this Carbone also looks nice (and my wife loves Italian).
Yes, reserve much sooner than early December. I have never been to NYE but have been to the first weekend of the NCAA men’s b-ball tourney and the Super Bowl. They are all very busy and we reserved months in advance.
Anyone been to the new Sushi Kame in Chinatown? Heading to Vegas next week and always like to try the off-strip legit sushi places of the moment.
Also curious about La Monja and Hatsumi at Fergusons Downtown. Any other new finds would be welcome. Thanks.

Thanks I booked Sparrow & Wolf for NYE. Not exactly prime location, but looks like a “local” experience et food seems good.
For the other evening, we’ll go for something on the strip (Carbone? My wife adores Italian).
Haven’t been to Kame yet, but a coworker of mine that used to live in Kyoto says it’s one of the 2-3 best sushi spots in town. Omikase is $195, Kaiseki is $350 - both have to be booked a minimum of 3 days in advance.
I would plan to stop next door at Lamaii for a drink or two. Their wine list is the best in town and their food is wonderful if you’re in the mood for modern Thai.
It’s not new. They just moved from a strip mall much farther away. On page 1 of this thread I recommended it. My favorite sushi place in Vegas. Although I haven’t been to the new spot, I’m sure it is still great. Omakase in their old location was $165. $195 is still very very good compared to what you pay for similar in NYC. Their recent relocation sparked renewed interest around town along with some confusion - Eater Vegas lists it on their hot restaurant list right now and poorly describe it as, “A new Japanese restaurant in Chinatown promises high-end kaiseke and omakase dining experiences at the Lotus mixed-use building at the corner of Spring Mountain Road and Procyon Street. Sushi Kame brings with multi-course, multi-hour dinners.”
Oh interesting. Then I’m pretty sure I was at the original one. It was a separate omakase counter in the back of a neighborhood Japanese place, right?
Well, we are going to the new place Thursday so we’ll see how it is.

Original Lotus of Siam will have a soft re-opening first week of December, for now lunch only on weekdays and dinner on Sat-Sun. And will have a free shuttle to ferry you to the Flamingo location when wait times are too long. Should be interesting to see how this works out.
