Kutch July 15

The 2011 Kutch McDougall Ranch and Falstaff pinots will be released on my birthday next Monday July 15, the seventh anniversary of my 39th birthday. Since I am certain the 2011 McDougall will quite shitty, I hope to buy myself a few as gifts.

Any info on pricing…Jamie?

Taken from the email (i didn’t include the Galloni notes and scores to keep out of trouble, but I will hint that they scored just above 92 for the Falstaff and just below 96 for the McDougall):

"Dear Kutch Wines Mailing List Member:

First off, thank you for your purchase of our Spring wines. We wanted to alert you that beginning next Monday, July 15th at 2pm EST, we will open our Fall 2013 release wines to you. At that time we will offer small amounts of our 2011 McDougall Ranch and 2011 Falstaff Pinot Noir. Please note that while you will be granted a held allocation of McDougall Ranch for 1 week, Falstaff will be offered on a strictly first-come, first-served basis and may sell out quickly (the total production of Falstaff was just 2 barrels (45 cases).

Our 2011’s have garnered some great critical acclaim and we have included Antonio Galloni’s http://VinousMedia.com and Robet Parker’s The Wine Advocate reviews for you below."

I love that Jamie has been out there for more than eight years yet he still adheres to Eastern Standard Time.

Love me some Kutch McDougall

David, me as well. the 2010 McDougall is a fantastic wine.

I last drank a 2011 SC a few months back but intend to open one tonight and get another look. I’ll put a crappy 2011 tasting note up tomorrow for those who wish to read it.

I appreciate what Jamie is doing with the wines, and given the horrible vintage of 2011, someone will need to buy these horrible wines. (Sarcasm warning–see my wine signature below).

I had a moment of panic when I didn’t see the email in my inbox but it got shoved to spam… Looking forward to this offering. I’m pruning my mailing lists so to speak but this is one that I’ll be keeping for a good long while.

Yep, it’s hard duty, but someone needs to do it. Sheesh, once again into the fray.

I can’t wait!!!

I wimped out tonight. It got to be too warm today for red and when the Dr Mrs said “can we open a white”, how could I say not. So, a Kutch later this week but tonight, it’s Chidaine!

I loved the 2011 McDougall at Bearserkerfest, but no soup for me this go-around . . . .

No brainer

2010 McDougall is the wine that sticks in my head most from this year. In a good way.

Dammit, nothing like a Fall mailer in July. Didn’t see this one popping up so soon. Maaaaaaan, Jamie!

Andrew, pricing is: $59 for McDougall, $50 for Falstaff

Jeb, I usually like to push the release date later than this but with what looks like an early harvest (August?) this year, I am going to be busier than even very soon.

Jamie, I think you just moved the date up as punishment for me keeping you on the phone too long one too many times.

My wife is going to be pissed…

Funny coincidence since we had a 2011 Kutch Sonoma Coast tonight with wild caught salmon. Lovely dinner al fresca on a balmy summer evening. The wine showed notes of sour cherry following a fragrant nose. The bottle did not last long enough to evaluate further.

I should have added that the release will include the modest remaining stock of 2011 Sonoma Coast ($39) that I have left as a “wish list” item.

Hmm, this is the first time I didn’t get the early warning email.

I’ll be waiting!!!
