Krug event impressions: 06 vintage and some older wines

I was told that Krug ages in 750 then mags are put together at a later date in larger bottles when disgorged. I don’t know if that’s incorrect info or not.

Ray is correct.

Robert, the older bottles were from collectors, not straight from Krug.

But the 06 base GC was from Krug–Yaacov, glad you had a better result with it.

incorrect, fortunately. i believe there is a rule that says anything below jero must be sold in the same bottle in which 2ndary fermentation occurs. seems at krug, all wines are matured in format.

ray - do you remember the auction at daniel with neil degrasse tyson explaining why mags age and taste better? pretty cool.

I remember, and I take full credit - whether warranted or not - on him stating his hypothesis by gathering information from me based on my years of drinking Champagne in multiple formats!!

you only drink champagne in two formats; big, and bigger. i just recently had my last magnum of 93 ruinart that i got at that sale and it was so damn good.

high variance but the highs are far below how this wine seemed to show a few years ago.
