Does anyone buy Kongsgaard any more? The syrah was good but I do not know that I would go to $160 for it. I do not like the Chard.
Funny, I was wondering the same thing. Awesome label artwork though.
I stopped buying last year. I do still enjoy the chardonnay – which I think is pretty distinctive and serves to offer something different every once in awhile --but the prices are just too steep to buy wines that have become for me more of a novelty than anything else. There are countless California chardonnays that I’d rather drink most days that cost half as much.
And the wines are cheaper at retail down the line. K&L recently had the '07 Syrah for $125.
Just Picked up 5 Btls. 2004 Syrah on Winebid for $63.50(55+15%)
I remember being on the list and buying the 2005 and 2006 syrah for 75 dollars if I remember right. Wow, what a jump in a relatively short period of time, First it jumped to 125 dollars and keeps going up;
Love The Judge when it’s on but super high cost.
I won’t be buying any but if I did, it would be the Syrah. IMO, there are too many CA Syrahs priced in the $30-$60 range that I’d prefer to drink. I don’t really like their Chards, for that $$ I’ll take Marcassin and it might be cheaper? How much is the Kongsgaard Chard now…$80-$100?
I’d rather purchase a bottle or 2 of Chablis for that price, like a bottle of Raveneau?
I buy a bottle or two each year. I like the wines a lot, but it is certainly expensive.
Premox problems with their wines. When it’s on it is spectacular but multiple bottles of shot regular chardonnay as well as Judge at 5 years post release. I therefore no longer buy.
