Tonight’s dinner was a half pound of King Crab warmed in Meyer Lemon Olive Oil and finished with SI Spicy Seafood Seasoning and Alfredo Sauce; and served on Saffron Fettucine. It was enjoyed with a 2008 Vietti Roero Arneis - good fill and lightly colored cork; light color initially, with slight darkening with time; initiallly light white fruit in nose and flavors; amazingly rich balanced mid-palate with good acidity and a spicy rich fruit component; and a rich, long. spicy fruit finish. Interestingly as the wine warmed a little from cellar temperature, the richness of the mid and finish began to appear in the front. It turned out to be a good match to the Alfredo; as were the Paganini Caprices for Solo Violin played impeccably by Itzhak Perlman.
Then for dessert we has a crisp Pink Lady apple with grappas while watching the final stage of the Tour Down Under and other shows (via TiVo). We started with Moscato di Poli, which was very good with the apple. Then Carollee had Banfi Grappa di Montalcino and I had the wood-aged Badia a Coltibuono Grappa di Sangiovese. The wood-aged grappa was ok, but not as good as the Moscato. I finished with some more Moscato, which was nearly perfect with the apple.
