Hardly surprising that somms would react negatively to someone whose goal is to “school” them, is it?

Paul - I’m not one to school somms no matter their stature - was just responding to language used in earlier post.

The thread sort of went beast-mode when some words from Kelli were quoted that seemed condescending toward the BYO crowd. They were condescending, IMO, but it’s a condescension that’s common to somms, I believe, and it’s probably somewhat necessary given what their job entails and how their role is compensated.

Then Bill Klapp came with knowledge - I won’t be schooling him either - and someone else claimed that the discussion reeked of gender bias. Yeah, no - super-somm fatigue, maybe.

Anyway, I like somms and ITB folks of all rank, sex, and demeanor. They’re on a quest and want nothing more than to bring high net worth individuals along. In the end, these conversations are quite entertaining and informative.

Paul - I’m not one to school somms no matter their stature - was just responding to language used in earlier post.

I got it and was just doing the same - not intended to be personal. My guess is that “Let’s Try to Prove We Know More than the Somm!” is a thing and is probably not their favorite party game, that’s all.

Oh, my, I misspoke myself, as we used to say back in the Nixon era. TRYING to keep them honest, and mostly failing, is obviously what I meant to say. And I learned today that Monica Larner is unreclaimable…
