Keg Wines Reaching Canada

Berserkers,

An article in the Vancouver Sun on keg wine making it up here to Canada. There are two important points I would like to summarize that are of interest:

  • This is the first article I’ve personally read that properly explained the wine keg system to me. Like a professional wine preserving system, the kegs have inert gas technology that preserves the wine.

  • The article also explains that the best wine to sell out of the system is a good medium-level quality wine. For example, a Prosecco instead of champagne. It also makes clear that you can keg sparkling wines without any issue.

Obviously this is not something that a home consumer or collector can use, but it’s definitely worthwhile for restaurants and venues.

You can find the article at: Home | Vancouver Sun.

Didn’t know anyone had done a bubbly in a keg. Kegs are good though if they prevent me from getting that slightly oxidized glass of wine like I had last night. It’d be interesting to compare the first glass and the last glass from a keg.

This is sure a change to the college dorm party, “Hey guys, lets gets some Prosecco for our kegger!”
