I find Bar Acuda dull. I go for fresh fish and they only have one choice, either ahi or ono. And the menu never seems to change. What they make is very good, but I almost always prefer the Hanalei dolphin, which has the best and most varieties of fish on the island. Meat lovers seem to be very happy at Bar Acuda.
Mong Chong, Shutome , Opah, were on the menu regularly along with the ubiquitous ahi and ono.
Have also gotten Walu, Hebi and buttagucci their, but the later hasn’t been served since the pandemic it seems.Sadly, I can no longer recommend the place because in the six times I was there last month, food over or underdone half the time and the have had 100% turnover with their chefs and have newbies. I just send it back but others are usually not that tolerant and it became weary.
Postcards was much better than the last few times, but service can be very variable.
The Huli Huli chicken at Foodland is consistently good and convenient if you are in a condo,
The best fish deal in the island is from the attached fish market. Their seared Cajun ahi sashimi is some of the best in the island.
Re the fancy restaurant at the One Hotel? I loved their snapper (Opaakapaka, my favorite), The patio lounge has the best view on the Island, and while it was overly pricey, the hamachi kamas ( collars) were the best I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, they charge for parking.
