K&L New York City Location

Dang … quite the coup by the NY store in landing Keith — I’ll miss him in CA.

I got the e-mail and replied with a request about buying from CA and getting the wine in NY.
We shall see. Living in Maine, which changed shipping laws to make it extremely difficult to ship, cut my K&L business to zero. If they can deliver my weirdities from CA to NY, I’m back in business with them.

And K & L just answered, very quickly.

I can order from CA and pick up in NY, 3 - 4 week lead time.

Fortunately, I have enough in my wine room to get me through the 3 - 4 week wait  :innocent:

The reverse also is true. I bought a wine from NYC in January and it took about four weeks to get to CA.

I just had 3 cases sent over, it’s a great deal to have it sent to NYC for free.

My first K&L auction buy, 3 bottles of Gonon Saint-Joe. The capability to pick these up in Midtown is a huge perk. I fear for my credit cards.

ive noticed that k&l auctions are some of the most competitive and offer the least value relative to the other auction sites.

but im happy theyre in nyc and look forward to supporting them.

Definitely agree with this- for popular lots, it’s always a massive bidding war.

Do you see the actual landed prices after buyer premium as systematically higher there than elsewhere? With their lower (10% right?) BP you’d assume higher hammer prices than the ~20% BP shops.

I have seen many bottles go above retail pricing, it makes no sense to me but perhaps people get a little too caught up in out bidding others.

Can you get local delivery (ie at a local delivery price) once the wine is in NYC, or you have to pick it up?

I believe there is a local delivery price depending on location but from what I remember it was reasonable like $15-$20.

Enter zip code and pricing comes up. Basically $15 for anything under $500.

Does anyone know how they move wines to/from CA and NYC?

I was told they have temp controlled trucks going back and forth every 3-4 weeks. I’ve picked up a few orders from NYC that came from CA which confirmed that time frame
