Joyce Farms chicken

saw an ad in Saveur and ordered. Anyone try these Poulet Rouge birds? I will report back in a couple weeks. From www.joyce-farms.com.

Hi Alan,

Is this a Poulet de Bresse by a non AOC name? The Heritage birds on the website look very tempting (I have not seen the Saveur article). Please do report back.

Thanks,
Theo

I am not sure but I ordered two types. Not sure what breed Bresse is but it is tasty! It was an ad in Saveur, not an article.

Bresse is evidently the breed and it is a white chicken, different from those that I ordered, per Wickipedia.

Did you cook them yet??

Saveur article from 2013: http://www.saveur.com/article/kitchen/joyce-farms-poulet-rouge-north-carolina

Alan. In so cal we are pretty lucky to be able to acquire whole Jidori chicken, have you tried one and if so let us know how it compares when you make the Joyce farms!

geez, just ordered them!

cool.

Thanks Doc. I love a good chicken.

Thanks Alan. I asked about the Poulet de Bresse because they describe their Poulet Rouge on their website as the “chicken that is at the soul of the finest French cuisine”, which I think most would agree is the Poulet de Bresse. It got my hopes up - a few years ago I searched everywhere for Poulet de Bresse in the US, and came up with nothing. Anyway, the heritage birds still look very good on their site. I’m curious to hear your review of the Poulet Rouge.

Charlie, where you get your Jidori chickens locally?

99 ranch market , the one in arcadia has it. Processed and delivered within 24 hours to the market. The chickens are on the smaller side (3lbs or so) but damn are they delicious. I think $3.99/lb so not cheap

They also sell the other parts separately but it’s damn pricey.

We’ve got some hungry people on this board! neener

Perfect size for roasting, sounds great.

c’mon over–bring Burgundy.

Hmm. Let me see if I have any.

that Truchot plonk hasn’t sold yet . . .
