Post card arrived today – postmarked 31 August. This is the earliest that I’ve ever seen it. Usually, it does not arrive until the second half of October or early November. Now it’s Thomas and Rhys in the same month. This is gonna be ugly for the bank account.
Where do you go to sign up to his mailing list? and how long is the wait list?
i can’t even find a website to sign up on…
Funny, I open up a '10 today and go to check the mailbox and what should appear?
I’m excited for my first offer from him.
For those that have ordered in the past (and I realize this is a bit of a generalization), how approachable are these initially and how do they age?
When I talked with him late last year, he indicated the quality of 2011 was great, unfortunately the yields were way down.
WWwwwaaaaaaa…where is mine!!!
I got an offer the year I signed up. I’m on a mobile device or I’d be more willing to search for contact info, search for other Thomas threads, the information is there somewhere.
These are usually not very approachable upon release. If you really want to dig into one, I would suggest waiting at least a few months and, then, giving it plenty of air. I’ve had the '10 twice, since the beginning of the summer (other people’s bottles ) and it has been surprisingly approacable. I still have not opened an '08, but may later this year, since it is 5 years from vintage. Depending upon the year, these age very well.
Maybe your mailman opened the envelope and ordered using his home address for shipping.
Mark,
Pretty sure you just call and leave your name, address, and number. I don’t think you’ll hear anything back, but I could be wrong. I’ve spoken with John on the phone. I didn’t order enough wine last year and he made it simple to order more. Try calling 503-852-6969.
Based on other '11s, I’d forget about them for a while. Tough vintage to judge young and Thomas bottlings can be especially cranky in their youth.
Drinking '10s already Greg (B-killer!)…after experiencing what 10+ years can do! And now you’re ready to pop the uber-strucured '08s! You could always dip in to your stash of Arterberry-Maresh, Ken Wrights, Le Cadeau and Rhys and just let 'em sleep!

My check for the Joe 5 pack is on the way.
Anyone tried the 09s lately? I know these are supposed to sleep, but I am looking to taste one of these and my stash only started with the 09s.
Dan
Agree on age. The 04s were just hitting their stride when I finished them over the last year (should have bought more), and I have no doubt they’d go longer if that’s your taste. I’d feel like I was missing out if I went younger (which I certainly wouldn’t say about lots of Oregon pinots).
The operation is not at all electronic. Postcards, checks in the mail, phone calls.
I bought a case of the '10’s. I’ve had two or three and have really enjoyed them. They just needed a bit of air. But fortunately the remaining are stashed away for a while.
No baby killing. No sir-ee, not me. “Other people’s bottles” One of my personal axioms is to never refuse Thomas Pinot Noir that someone else opens.
Really…too bad you didn’t type tasting notes on them in CT. I just bought a few and a magnum of the 2010 Thomas. Tasting notes from people that have already had it would be helpful.
My Tasting notes would not be very helpful. I don’t trust my own palate, so I wouldn’t want to guide someone else.
I wrote out a check and mailed it tonight. There’s something refreshing about the success of an old-fashioned business model. It certainly seems he directs his energy towards the quality of the product, and I have no problem with that!
Still haven’t received my post card - what color is it?

Dark brown with a Johnny Cash stamp.
