JJ Buckley Spring Blowout Sale....

Going on now. Up to 50% off…

Needed more everydayers…picked up…

2008 Bertheau Chambolle Musigny $39 (went for this instead of '09 at a couple more $…I like '08!)
2009 Louis Carillon Puligny Montrachet $38

So, I know very little about Burgundy but I decided since I finished my tax extension earlier in the day to buy some of these:

2007 Mongeard-Mugneret, Domaine Beaune Avaux 1er Cru Pinot Noir
2009 Mongeard-Mugneret, Domaine Beaune Avaux 1er Cru Pinot Noir
2008 Mongeard-Mugneret, Domaine Beaune Avaux 1er Cru Pinot Noir
2006 Mongeard-Mugneret, Domaine Beaune Avaux 1er Cru Pinot Noir
2007 Matrot, Domaine Thierry Blagny la Piece Sous le Bois Premier Cru Pinot Noir
2007 Liger-Belair, Domaine Thibault Nuits Saint Georges La Charmotte Pinot Noir

Went with the little vertical on the Mongeard Mugneret as an ‘education’ to myself.

Didn’t see much on the Domestic front via the sale. Scored some Dunn Howell Mtn last go around but I think I wiped them out, hence no mas.

I took the rest of those!

Meh…took a look through the “up to 50% discount” California wines…saw nothing really discounted more than any other site. The 2006 Sherwin Cab for $79 and they are listing this as a 40% discount? Really?..Sherwin sells his Cabs for $90 last I saw.

Mike, the prices you’re seeing are before the discount.

Do you need any special code or email or is this open to the public?

It’s open to the public, just go to their website.

I bought some 2007 JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spatlese for $19.50/bottle.

The prices seem great on these wines – any of you Burg people want to chime in on what you think of the wines? Thanks.

Fine wine for that price

I ended up buying two pairs of 09 red Burgundy:

2009 Bertheau, Francois Chambolle Musigny ($42) x 2
2009 Mongeard-Mugneret, Domaine Vougeot les Cras ($47) x 2

Random impulse buy, but what the hell. I hope they turn out to be good.

Only have had the '06 and it was good but needs some time in the cellar imo. In general I think M-M did very well in '09… there’s a bit more fruit to balance their usual acid, oak and structure.

Looks like they have added some more wines to the sale this afternoon/evening. Earlier in the day, there were 150+ Burgs, now over 230. Might want to revisit.

Mongeard = blah (there’s a reason they are always clogging up retailer inventory and have to be blown out, like Liger-Belair and Girardin), but not overtly offensive.

special code only for you neener

Great minds think alike.

cheers

The 2010 Schloss Gobelsburg Steinsetz for $13 is a great deal for a very good Gruner. I have not had the 2010 but the reviews from DS and Cellartracker look great for a sub $15 wine and it is always good to great every vintage.

Thanks for the heads up, got me some Gouges.

Wow, this is a steal for a great wine, thanks for the heads-up.

Great deals on some delicious Chidaines and Huets too. I’ve blown my wine budget for the month and I’m happy about it.

The Huet’s were ridiculous. I thought I was done with the sale until I saw those. 2009 Le Haut Lieu Demi-Sec for $21/bottle? 2010 Le Haut Lieu Sec for $17.50/bottle? Damn. I had to load up.
