My first experience with this retailer. I bought a few bottles of NV Bollinger online this week. The shipping was prompt and the bottles arrived in good shape. On the back is a sticker that lists an importer but also a note that says “acquired from a private cellar.” Shouldn’t this have been indicated pre sale; on the website?
Is this typical for them? Should I be concerned about provenance? How old could this NV be?
I sent an email 24 hours ago but haven’t heard anything. The phone menu leaves me perplexed.
I was under the impression that JJB buys private collections too. Some of what I’ve bought has the “acquired from a private cellar” sticker too, without any indication online.
How would one know that JJ Buckley = WineCommune? There is zero indication if you go to the JJ Buckley site, which looks like any other internet wine retailer with a physical presence. I think if you’re going to sell consigned wine it should be obvious. No?
I ordered the same but did not notice a note on the sticker. Do they come in a red box with 100 anniversary on it? There should be a code on the label. I think the date of disgorgement is a 2 digit number following the first letter. I would be curious as to how old these are. Mine are in storage. Sounds like I should dig them out and check.
As stated they came from Wine Commune. I have bought a bunch of their wines and many with the label from a private cellar so no different then Hart Davis or Chicago Wine Co. The bonus of buying from Buckley is when I do get the rare corked bottle they stand behind the product alike Chicago Wine, Premier Cru, etc.
