Is it enjoyable to drink now or would you only open to taste as sample/predictor of future - of course only have a few so don’t want to be too early (on this or the 21).
I did open a Beta 2021 Paratus last night in the spirit of trying some of the wines. It was very good after 5-6 hours of air and I would drink again (after decanting that amount of time),
Looks like only two from bottle, though.
I have had it from bottle 3 or 4 times and it was even better than from barrel.
I think some NYC people tried it from bottle last weekend. Hopefully they will report. Jeff Nemanick who is probably the most experienced Napa taster I know raved about both the 21 and 22 and he has had them from barrel multiple times.
I thought they were excellent. 2022 is more open has a bit of purple fruit given the vintage, but 2021 is more interesting (and still open enough to drink now). Look forward to seeing how these evolve over time.
So wonderful to hear. I was sad to miss it but I had to be in LA for Ed “Apple” Nelson’s Birthday party!
Having it over lunch helped but it was not overly tannic & they are suave. When people here commented on the characteristics of Jasud, I think they were accurate. There is more purity of fruit compared to trying Beta at an early stage. It also opened up with air rather than closing down, so that went in our favor.
I drink/taste young Bordeaux/nebbiolo and am not afraid of tannin, but the tannins were more of a feature than something to get over. I’m glad to have opened it

One bottle of 21 Jasud hammered at $600 or ~$800 with vig at Zachys last week! BOOM!
While not about the 22 (which I did have with Ketan and a few other people earlier this year), I tasted at the winer on Friday and the wines coming up are thrilling. Am particuarly excited about 2025 - both the Jasud and the Own Rooted. Was also awesome awesome hanging out with Ketan, he’s awesome.
