Ordered and planned for Valentines Day weekend delivery can’t wait!
In for a cheese baller, plus a Moses Sleeper for good measure. Excited to try all the cheeses!
Don’t miss out on this folks - I was introduced to Jasper Hill 2 years ago with a surprise Christmas gift from my boss (great boss, BTW), and the Harbison has reached LEGENDARY status in my household. Got another JH sampler box as a gift this past Christmas, and I am a convert. (For context, I lived in cheese-mecca Wisconsin for a while)
YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS!
In for the ripe & ready plus a few a la carte selections!
Great to see you here @S.I.Rheaume / Jasper Hill!!
In for the Cheese Baller x1.
We love nothing more than winning over the hearts of Wisconsonites haha. Thanks for your gold-star endorsement! We do it for the love of making the most delicious cheese possible!
Sorry if this is a dumb question- how long can these cheeses last in the fridge before opening? And then how long after opening? Usually when we buy nice cheese it gets consumed within a day or two so I dont have experience here
Not a dumb question at all.
Every cheese will have a best-by date on it, we give a minimum of two weeks when we send direct. Many will have more time on them than that.
Hand-cut (paper-wrapped pieces like Bayley Hazen Blue) should always be eaten with a little more urgency. Once we cut through the rind, the paste will have the desire to “re-rind.” In other words, those pieces are the most likely to develop surface flora. In most cases, you can cut off a re-rinding or oxidized surface and the cheese will be a-ok.
The last thing I’ll say is that our “best-by” dates are suggestions. That is the date when 80-90% of people will enjoy that cheese. That said, many people age certain cheeses past the best-by date for certain qualities. Many folks will hold Harbison 5-7 days past the date to get the inner texture to be super soupy. All a matter of preference.
Probably more than you bargained for on that response!
Great info, thank you!
Looks scrumptious, we are totally buying some.
These cheeses look fantastic. In for a ripe & ready
