Friday night at Nostrani with three lovely fish dishes - 2006 Pierre Matrot Meursault (village) and 2005 Ecard 1er Cru Savigny-le-Beaune 'Les Serpentières
Last night (Saturday) was dinner at a favorite French brasserie. Some 2008 Château de Roquefort Côtes de Provence Corail Rosé with Os a Moëlle, Escargots à la Bourguignonne and Terrine of Foie Gras. Then 2003 Château de St Cosme Hominis Fides Gigondas and 1999 Beaucastel CdP with my Trio of Lamb Loin, Lamb Chop & Megrez Sausage with Couscous.
Friday: finished up an '07 Tensley Colson Canyon Syrah. A little sweet on Day 1, but fleshed out nicely over 3 days. My first Tensley and I look forward to trying again.
Saturday: '06 Rudius RRV. I have a few coming from the winery in a month or two, but found one at retail and decided to go for a sneak preview. The '05 RRV is in a great place right now and I think the '06 will be even better. Definitely got the roasted meat on the nose and black licorice that Jeff noted in his description.
Tonight we’ll be finshing our green chile chicken on rice. So we’ll have either Margaritas or an '04 Puligny or Meursault depending on the perceived heat of the chiles.
Friday I had a 2005 Tablas Creek EDB, yesterday 2000 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages and tonight I feel like syrah…dunno what yet. Yesterday someone said here try this! and poured me a glass of Folie a Deux Menage a Trois which is everywhere in PA. Every restaurant has it because its cheap super fruity and has this strong smokey quality to it. They were trying to “trick me” into liking a “cheap” wine but Ive had so much of this stuff at hospital functions that I told them what it was and they were shocked. However, I did go out earlier today and got two bottles. I have a couple of friends who enjoy only big wines with expensive labels and whom I am going to trick with these…should be fun.
